The In-Depth Guide to Depression

Give yourself another day, another chance. You will find your courage eventually. Don’t give up on yourself just yet.

Day 1. My name is Aiser, and I have come here with hope to lift someone’s day as I lift my own. When the thought of depression comes to my head it is an all encompassing feeling of self-doubt, hate, anger, deprecation, and just not loving myself. These feelings are all valid though, no matter what anyone’s opinion is, because we are entitled to our own feelings. Throughout this mystical journey of life up to 24 years old I have learned many things and also changed consistently with birthdays, from a joyous 8 year old to a miserable 15 year old and now a grief struck 24 year old. Many of you may be going through the same thing, see depression is like medicine and how it affects us all differently. Not one case is the same and we are as unique as the fingerprints I used to type on this keyboard, but what is the same is the fear of working out of it. No matter the love given and support surrounding, the depression always seems to inch above the other contenders and win the race. The mindset can be quite difficult to change and today may feel like the worst day even though tomorrow or the day prior could have in actuality been or become worse. So…. how do we move forward with no sight into the horizon? We don’t. TODAY is the journey you need to fight, tomorrow is not the battle you should be preparing for but today is the one you can fight. So I ask everyone who read this blog today or tomorrow or a week from now to stand up and give yourself a big hug. YOU are your best supporter and you are good enough for you. Today I am battling my battle by putting my emotions and feelings into this blog and taking this leap to become a more self loving person, as should you. I understand you might not feel like you can win this race but with a little mental steroid injection from me maybe today you can come in 3rd or 2nd place and not dead last. Go outside let the fresh air hit your face, stand up and walk around the room 10 times just to get the blood flowing, but most important take a moment to tell yourself, “I love you, and I always have but I haven’t been able to show it and I am going to try better.” Stop worrying about tomorrow, because you can only take babysteps and work on today; this moment; this breath.
